  Hello! This is my first time writing an ad and also is my first time being in prison. It's been a huge transition for me and after the initial shock of it all, I'm trying to remain as positive as I possibly can. What I really need is a friend who understands.

  Hello to all my viewers. My name is Abdul Rasheed, but I prefer to be called Ab. I am originally from New Jersey but have had the luxury of traveling the world.

  I am currently incarcerated for possession of firearms within the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. My projected release date is 2011, so my time and stay here in prison is short and brief. Throughout my incarceration, I've managed to accomplish a great deal. I've completed courses and have certificates in parenting; heating, ventilating and air conditioning; and business management.

  Some of my passions are reading, writing poetry, studying real estate and philosophy and working out. Although I have managed to achieve a degree of success while imprisoned, there still lies a void in my realm that has yet to be fulfilled.

  I am in search of establishing a platonic friendship with the possibility of something greater with a woman who is down to earth, ambitious and goal oriented. Since being down, I have done a lot to better myself mentally and spiritually. I'm divorced with no kids. But I must say I love kids. 'Cause right now I'm taking classes to become a drug counselor.   Carlos in English is Charlie and that's what most people call me. I'm completely bilingual so you can write me in English or Spanish. I really believe in everything that's written in the Bible, I was about 14 years old when I first experienced that God is real. Every person from my "family tree" was born in Puerto Rico. I was born in Minot, North Dakota because my father was stationed there (Air Force). A couple of months after I was born, we moved back to Puerto Rico and when I was 11 years old I started learning English because I moved to Orlando, Florida.

  I'm in prison because I was convicted of carrying drugs on a plane. I was coming from the Dominican Republic where I lived with my wife (not married) and my 4 daughters (not biological) whom I love very much and still call / write and send them a little money every month ~ I think you would find my life story at the very least, unusual. For this conviction, the system is taking 15 years and 1 month of my life. It's a broken system, I believe society is too slow to help and too quick to over-punish.

  In the hospital section. Anemic, low hemoglobin, X low white count, not HIV, but bone marrow insufficient, hep "C", doing the best I can. 57 years of age. Murder charge not premeditate nor intended, but it happened. I think about it everyday.

  Receive only one visit about every three years for the remaining family I do have are out of state. It's complex and too expensive to travel.
