I am looking for a friendship with someone on the outside, someone I can connect with and talk to without being judged on why I am incarcerated. When you first get locked up you find out who your real friends are quick because they're the ones answering the phone and coming to visit. I found that out in the beginning, Now that I am closer to coming home, everyone that ran off are all slowly trying to work their way back in my life. They had no time for me, now I have none for them.
I've been in prison over six years now, during this time I have tried my best to stay busy learning what I can to expand my knowledge. I work out daily and do a lot of running, I'm not the type to come to prison and get out looking worse than before I came in.
I enjoy playing basketball with my downtime, sometimes I put my headphones on and walk loops just to get lost in the movement of bodies that surround me. Being incarcerated is pretty much just a state of mind, I try not to let it get to me anymore.
