  • AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania - Provides legal services for prisoners in PA with HIV/AIDS. Se habla espanol. English and Spanish.

  • AIDS Training and Education Center (ATEC) - Coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Resources and Services Administration. ATEC provides training for all healthcare providers, including correctional staff.

  • The COVID Prison Project - The COVID Prison Project tracks data and policy across the country to monitor COVID-19 in prisons. The site offers analysis and resources to better understand how coronavirus is impacting people who are incarcerated. It tracks data from all 50 US states, Puerto Rico, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Content focuses on data collection and analysis using a public health-oriented framework.

  • Centers For Disease Control and Prevention - Article discussing HIV Transmission Among Male Inmates in a Georgia State Prison System. Provides detailed statistics such as the estimated prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is nearly five times higher for incarcerated populations than for the general U.S. population.

  • Greater Than AIDS - Responds to the AIDS crisis in the US, in particular the severe and disproportionate epidemic among Black Americans. Publishes newsletters and information.

  • Housing Works - Housing Works is a minority-controlled, community-based, not-for-profit corporation providing housing, health care, advocacy, job training, and vital supportive services to homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.

  • Latino Commission on AIDS - Provides education and training for treatment for all those in need with the HIV virus. Offers written information and resources in Spanish.

  • Legislative Action Coalition on Prison Health - The Legislative Action Coalition on Prison Health (LACPH) is a coalition of more than 40 organizations working together on a long term legislative campaign supporting a package of bills that would ensure proper healthcare, HIV prevention and education to inmates in New York's prison system.

  • Legal Action Center (New York) - The Legal Action Center's mission is to assist New York state residents to fight discrimination against those with histories of addiction, HIV/AIDS, or criminal records, and to advocate for sound public policies in these areas. Write for list of free publications.

  • National Minority AIDS Council - Develops leadership in communities of color to address the challenges of HIV/AIDS. Has a free online resource library. Helps community and faith-based organizations, correctional facilities and health departments evaluate, improve and implement effective discharge planning for HIV positive prisoners and former prisoners.

  • The New England Journal of Medicine - Article Titled, "Sex, Drugs, Prisons, and HIV" by Susan Okie, M.D. that compares US Prisons to Western European countries, as well as Australia, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Moldova, Indonesia, and Iran in terms of drugs and HIV within Prisons.

  • Osborneny - New York City-based organization providing a helpline and other services for New York prisoners with HIV.

  • San Francisco AIDS Foundation - HIV/AIDS hotline at 800-367-AIDS for CA prisoners only. Publishes "BETA," available in Spanish and English. Offers services to recently released people living with HIV. Does not offer a penpal service.

  • Test Positive Aware Network - HIV/AIDS publication, "Positively Aware" is a national magazine covering HIV/AIDS treatment, research, news, and profiles of people living with HIV. One issue focuses on HIV and the prison system every few years. Does not offer penpal or dating services. Free to those living with HIV and all prisoners; $30/yr for HIV-negative people on the outside.

  • TheBody.com - Several articles from The Body - An AIDS and HIV Information Resource.

  • TPAN - TPAN empowers people living with HIV through peer-led programming, support services, information dissemination, and advocacy. We also provide services to the broader community to increase HIV knowledge and sensitivity, and to reduce the risk of infection. Site includes extensive information about HIV treatment in prison.

  • WORLD (Women Organized to Respond to Life-Threatening Diseases) - Provides information and educational support for women and families infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Some spanish resources available.
