My name is Anwar Shahbaz-Lopez and I’m a first time / nonviolent drug offender. I was arrested back in 2013 on conspiracy charges and was out on bond for four years. I turned myself into FCI Ashland in 2018 and was transferred to Milan earlier this year.

Since getting here early 2021, I have enrolled at Jackson College to pursue my degree in business administration. Once I get out, I will focus on my non-profit organization I founded in 2015 called Street Dreams Chicago; teaching underserved communities the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.

I’m just here to promote my mission and to hopefully meet someone interested in furthering my cause. I feel that a lot of people are incarcerated from the lack of financial education and because of that, they make mistake resorting to crime for monetary gains.
