Stuck in a six by nine
Sleeping on concrete slabs
Doing hard time
Lost everything I had
Like Katrina’s time
Least to say it’s been a ride
No street signs
But I been around these blocks a billion times
Love I’ve seen I’ve lost
Hate I’ve felt try to brush it off
Mistakes I’ve made
Came with painful costs
Fears I’ve locked away
Emotions swept under the rug
Left it for another day
Still I opened up
She coached me and told me it’s okay
They called on a thug
But I avoided that path walked the other way.
