I’m 5 in on 30 fighting a wrongful conviction and trying like HELL just to go home. I say this so you know that, on the off-chance my post conviction fails, I have 10 years left before I’m ever eligible for parole.

So why am I writing??? Because I’m bored. Who / what am I looking for? Honestly I don’t rightly know, but I’ll recognize it when I see it I’m sure. Whether it’s platonic, romantic, financial, or legal.

I do know that whatever it is I want something different, something real. I’m so over being the guy with no roots, no attachments, no family. Of not having one girlfriend but twenty with no substance to any relationship beyond the physical. I’m tired of being an emotional vagabond, letting my past be my excuse to remain detached, uncommitted, and unavailable.

That’s where I’m at. Not sure it matters if I get a response here, the point was honesty and transparency, to try something new.

By a totally random, spontaneous thought, I got the idea to try an outreach program. You could say that I am at a personal crossroads in my life and am looking for something totally different, challenging, and productive to do in my downtime.

Since I could walk and talk, I’ve always been intrigued by the human mind and our behaviors. Never one to judge too quickly, I’m always interested in someone’s story, because we all most certainly have one! Each one of our stories can assist another person’s journey. That’s what makes us all equally important.

I’ve learned in my 46 years of existence that my mother may have been right all along; we’re lucky if we meet a handful of true friends, in our entire lifetimes, who aren’t judgmental, nor have ulterior motives, especially in the world that I live in and that’s why I’m reaching out to the outside.

Admittedly, I have made my share (and more) of mistakes and bad decisions, that I’m sure have been contributing factors to the mental and physical prisons that I find myself currently in, but, I’m determined to hold my head high, to swallow my pride, and to keep a positive attitude. Setting attainable goals is practical and realistic and once achieved, the sense of accomplishment tends to push all of my failures further behind. That’s how I approach life.

Those mistakes forced me to change my life & I’ve worked very hard to do just that, mostly through education. I’ve earned 2 college degrees and am currently earning my welding certification. I’ve also completed many programs and have a file full of certificates and accomplishments, that have helped me grow from a boy, into a man.

I’m being released next year and am interested in meeting someone who’s down-to-earth, who has a sense of humor, who’s intelligent, and who has an open mind. I’m getting out to a brand new world that I know nothing about, so a genuine friend would be incredible! If you enjoy deep conversations with substance and depth, hit me up! I look forward to it!

My name is Sterling Austin. I am 6’1’’, 210lbs. I am considered to be African American because of the color of my skin, but I am also Native American and Irish. I have a bald head because I shave my salt and pepper hair off. I am medium brown skinned, and I do workout and stay in pretty good shape. I enjoy the outdoors, camping, horseback riding, theater, music, and many other pleasurable life experiences.

I am currently in this horrible, unfortunate circumstance and situation of being incarcerated due to a miscarriage of justice and a wrongful conviction which I’m sure will be reversed and overturned. I’m not only very lonely, but I am also very innocent and actively in the process of proving my innocence in direct appeals. There was not only a rush to judgment, but racism in an extremely racist and corrupt county in Colorado but also a misdiagnosis by the corner who admitted that the person who died could have also died due to overdosing on the mixture of Etizolam, Heroin, THC, alcohol, and cocaine according to the toxicology report which came after the premature opinion of death. I not only had two trials due to a hung jury in the first trial.

I hope soon to have meaningful friendships established soon to support me, and because of the Covid-19 Phase III lockdown I have provided the only photo available for me at this time.

True, you don’t know me, but name one person you ever met that wasn’t a stranger until you got to know them… I’ll wait. I didn’t think so. The only question is; are you open-minded enough to give me that opportunity? Or will the stigma of my incarceration be the obstacle that prevents me from getting to know someone worth knowing?

Most prisoner based websites encourage us to express that we are seeking friendship as opposed to romance in order to get the most “hits” and that’s cool but I’m not looking for a lot of “hits.” I’m looking for one quality person that’s open to building a relationship that extends beyond my prison term.
